Spring 2019
Merkel Dances
Merkel Dances examines Angela Merkel’s physicality during her career in the public eye. She once described herself as a “kleine Bewegungsidiotin” for having trouble learning to walk down the stairs as a child. As Chancellor she has been dowdy, pragmatic, hesitant, unglamourous, but perhaps it’s all just a ploy: she underpromises and overdelivers. We’re pretty sure Putin has a crush on her. We are, cautiously, her fans.
